The Eden Singers during Covid 19 restrictions
The Eden Singers have not been able to meet in person during these last few months . However there have been two initiatives which we have been engaged in.
1. The Eden Singers Virtual Choir. This initiative has enabled members to listen to pre-recorded backing tracks, recording their voices at home, the results of which have been compiled into a composite "virtual choir". These recordings can be heard by clicking on the "Hear Us " page of the web site.
2. We also meet every Tuesday via Zoom, and rehearse singing along to some of our repertoire from the comfort of the home environment . About half the choir members are involved and there is capacity on the system to welcome any more choir members to share, sing, learn and generally maintain contact in a very informal setting until we are able to meet again.
Our choir was selected as a winner of the Classic FM/ Making Music Carol Competition, in which five carols were selected to be played in the Classic FM Drive slot in the week commencing Monday 14th December 2020.
"I Saw a Maiden", a Basque Noel with an a cappella choral arrangement was recorded and recently released on our CD "The Eden Singers Christmas Music Selection". Proceeds from the sale of our CD has already benefitted the Calvert Trust and our local Salvation Army food bank . Our carol was broadcast on Tuesday, 15th December on the Classic Fm Drive show with John Brunning .
The Eden Singers is a community choir of all ages drawn from the Eden area of Cumbria. Our aim is to provide enjoyment, both for our members and audiences, by performing a wide variety of music styles. We are a mixed choir singing in 4-parts: sopranos, altos, tenors and basses.
If you are interested in joining there is a waiting list, please refer to our web site page "Join Us".
